ESPN has degenerated quite rapidly from a reputable news source over the years as they’ve morphed into some sort of hype/entertainment/hyperbole machine. Just recently, they caught a lot of heat (and rightfully so) after an online article included a racial slur referring to Jeremy Lin.
This great find by Jockular shows how the “Worldwide Leader” just narrowly avoided yet another racially laced gaffe.
I’m sure this is an honest typo, what with the letters “R” and “T” being so close in proximity on a keyboard. But it would not have been good for ESPN had this gone as badly as it could have.
However, given their propensity to throw their employees under the bus, it would have been a LOT worse for whatever staff member was in charge of this graphic.
