Eric Gordon‘s record in games played with the New Orleans Hornets is now 2-1. The former Indiana guard took the court for the Hornets on Wednesday night for only the third time this season after being sidelined with a knee injury that eventually led to surgery.
Gordon showed no signs of being injured against the Nuggets though. He started out rusty, which was expected, going scoreless in the first quarter and missed all four of his shots attempts.
Although he only shot 3-11 for the game, Gordon’s presence made a big difference. He had a big 3rd quarter, where he scored 9 of his 15 points. Perhaps his biggest play came with 2 seconds left in the game. Gordon pump faked which sent Arron Afflalo flying into the air, causing Gordon to draw the foul. He sunk both free throws and sealed the W for the Hornets at 94-92.
I was one of the ones skeptics that doubted we would see Eric Gordon in a Hornets uniform again this season, and I was definintely surprised to see him return last night. His return garnered mix emotions from Hornets fans, who are now looking to a winless remainder of the season for lottery pick purposes instead of Gordon’s campaign for pending free agency offers.
I have to say I agree with the Hornet’s fan base. Way to come back and be good, Eric Gordon. The Hornets were doing just fine without clutch plays, amazing passes, and good leadership. Selfish guy you are, sir.
