Eli Manning entered the 2011 season with more critics & questions than most QBs with a Super Bowl win & Super Bowl MVP under his belt. Personally, I always believed he was undervalued by fans & media & over criticized.
After a second Super Bowl victory, that pendulum swung the other way to extremes where some argued that he’s better than his brother, Peyton.
Even with all the success & recent praise following the Giants’ title runs, idiot fans & members of the media seem to be more interested in the Jets & Tim Tebow than the champion Giants & Eli.
In a conversation with Fox Sports, Eli made a comment that showed that he is aware if this phenomenon:
“(The) New York Giants just won a championship, yet I’m still the third most talked-about quarterback in my own city.”
Is this an indication that Eli is jealous of Tebow & Sanchez? Is this more fuel to feed the fire of idiots who will try to criticize Eli as being weak or insecure?
To the latter, I’m sure it will be. To the former, I don’t believe Eli is the slightest bit jealous of the two lesser, over hyped QB’s.
Eli shares several traits with Peyton & his dry sense of humor is one of them. I think Eli was making a joke, citing a ridiculous truth that is perpetuated by moronic fans & members of the media.
Good luck to anyone who thinks what the Jets are doing compares in any way to how real champions like the Giants, Packers, Steelers, etc. build a team.
