Asante Samuel has been dealt by the Philadelphia Eagles to the Altanta Falcons, according to Albert Breer of NFL.com.

Complete terms of the deal for Asante Samuel are not yet known, but it is reported that Samuel has agreed to a three-year, $18.5 mil deal with the Falcons as part of the trade.

The Falcons have 6 draft picks but zero 1st round picks in this year’s NFL Draft. With two above average (in terms of ability & salary) CBs already on the roster in Brent Grimes & Dunta Robinson, it appears the Falcons are trying to load up to stop Rodgers & Cutler.

Cornerbacks have become more & more valuable over recent years due to the rules changes dramatically tilting the advantage to the passing game. As a result, more & more teams are utilizing 3, 4 & 5 WR sets & the demand for quality cover corners far outweighs the supply.

Samuel is a 4 time Pro-Bowler with 45 career interceptions. He was a huge factor for the Patriots defense for many years before being victim to their cap management and signing with the Eagles in 2008.
