Rams agree to trade #2 overall pick to Redskins

The Washington Redskins have acquired the #2 overall pick in the 212 NFL Draft from the Rams, per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. The Redskins are reportedly giving up their first round pick for this draft (#6 overall), their 2012 2nd round pick as well as first round picks in 2013 and 2014.

The Redskins are desparate for a quarterback and will most likely use the #2 pick to draft Baylor QB and Heisman trophy winner Robert Griffin III. Griffin had an exceptional junior season and impressed scouts even further by running an funofficial 4.38 at the NFL combine in February. The Rams have a number of needs after finishing last season 2-14 but have been said to be targeting Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon.

This is a huge gamble for the Redskins, but if Griffin III turns out to be the franchise QB scouts claim he is then he will be well worth the risk. More details as they become available.
