Per his own Facebook page and Twitter account, free agent  WR Pierre Garcon announced that he will be signing with the Washington Redskins. The deal is reportedly for five years, $42.5 mil with $21.5 mil guaranteed.

Garcon was drafted in the sixth round in 2008 and played the first four years of his career playing for the Indianapolis Colts. In 58 games with the Colts Garcon caught 188 passes for 2,519 yards and 16 touchdowns. Garcon had his best season in 2011, reaching career highs in receptions (70) and receiving yards (947) and six touchdowns.

The Redskins also traded for the #2 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Many expect the pick to be Baylor junior QB and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III. Signing Garcon would give Griffin an immediate veteran deep threat in their passing game.
