Hines Ward called it career today after 14 seasons as a wide receiver with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The third round draft choice out of Georgia was selected to four Pro Bowls, won two Super Bowls (XL and XLIII), and was named MVP of Super Bowl XL. Ward amassed 1,000 catches, 12,083 yards, and 86 total touchdowns. He’s one of eight players in NFL history with 1,000+ receptions, one of nineteen with 12,000+ receiving yards, and is second in Steelers history to Franco Harris in touchdowns.
As Ward’s playing days have come to a conclusion his time as owner of a 12,656 square foot Atlanta mansion will be ending shortly as well. The home boasts 8 bedrooms, 8.5 bathrooms, a full basketball court, outdoor cabana, and resort-style swimming pool. It was also featured in the November 2010 issue of Architectural Digest and August 2011 edition of Atlanta Magazine. Here are some photos courtesy of Trulia.
