Friday morning members of the Denver Broncos staff boarded a flight to Durham, NC to meet with free agent quarterback Peyton Manning. Manning has been in Durham working out at Duke University. The flight party included executive VP of football operations John Elway, head coach John Fox, offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, QB coach Adam Gase, GM Brian Xanders and a medical team.
According to my source, Elway met with head coach John Fox and the Broncos’ financial team late Thursday night at Shanahan’s restaurant in Denver and was overheard saying “Friday will be a good day” before boarding a plane headed for North Carolina Friday morning. Manning also has informed the Miami Dolphins that they are no longer in the running for his services.
Manning met with the Broncos last weekend shortly after his release from the Colts became official. The Broncos made the playoffs with second year quarterback Tim Tebow and Denver would be an attractive destination for Manning as the team has the pieces to win now.
