Times have gotten pretty tough for former NBA all-star Antoine Walker. After spending 12 seasons in the NBA and making over $108 mil in salary (not including endorsements) Walker filed for bankruptcy in 2010, claiming that he is $12.7 mil in debt with only $4.3 mil in assets.
One of those assets apparently his NBA championship ring that Walker won with the Miami Heat in 2006, which Walker was forced to sell as part of his case:
According to court docs, Walker had to liquidate his property to pay back his creditors … including his ring. Now TMZ has learned, the ring has been tentatively sold to a guy named Andres Garcia for a cool $21,500.
A judge needs to sign off on the deal before any money changes hands … but we’re told it’s pretty much a done deal.
Talk about adding injury to insult. Walker, now 35, is currently playing in the D-League with the Idaho Stampede and has been attempting to make an NBA comeback but that seems very unlikely.
During his NBA days Walker was one of the better players in the league, averaging 17.5 ppg and 7.7 rpg for his career. Walker was named an all-star for the 97-98, 01-02 and 02-03 seasons as a member of the Boston Celtics.
