Washington freshman Tony Wroten came into college as one of the top recruits in the nation, and for good reason. The 6’5″ guard from Seattle was a member of the 2011 USA Basketball Junior National Select Team and came to Washignton ready to contribute from the jump for the Huskies, averaging ove 17 ppg so far this season. Thursday night Wroten scored 22 points in a road win at Arizona State, including two on this monster dunk over fellow Pac-12 freshman Jonathan Gilling:
To add insult to embarrassment for Gilling, Wroten converted the free throw for the three point play. Said Wroten after the game when referring to the dunk:
“That might have been the best dunk I’ve ever had,” he said. “I wasn’t even expecting that to happen. He just moved over and (I) just dunked on him.”
While Gilling was noble in stepping in to try to take the charge, sometimes you just gotta think otherwise or end up on a highlight reel.
