After today’s game Jason Taylor will take off the pads one last time, ending a career that began in 1997 and would see him become one of the best pass rushers of his time. Taylor recorded 10+ sacks in a season 6 times between 2000-20007, including a career high 18.5 in 2002. He was selected to the Pro Bowl 6 times, the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Year twice (2002 & 2006), the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2006, and has 139.5 sacks entering today. Taylor spent 13 of his 15 seasons in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins and took the opportunity to thank the fans in South Florida for their support over the years with this billboard.

Miami Dolphins Chairman Stephen Ross had this to say on Taylor’s decision.

“I want to thank Jason for all he has done for the Dolphins and the South Florida community. His contributions on the field as one of the greatest players in team history will be remembered by Dolphin fans for years to come, and his charitable works off the field that has benefited so many people will leave a timeless legacy of his community service.”
