Kings Fire Head Coach Paul Westphal

Per multiple reports, The Sacramento Kings have fired head coach Paul Westphal, effective immediately:

Recently, Westphal got into a public dispute with second year center DeMarcus Cousins, even releasing a statement saying Cousins had demanded to be traded, a claim which Cousins immediately denied. Cousins was drafted 5th overall by the Kings in 2010. Assistant coach and former Golden State Warriors coach Keith Smart will coach the Kings until they find a replacement.

Westphal was named head coach of the Kings in 2009, leading the young team to a disappointing 51-120 record in 3+ seasons, including a 2-5 record to start the current lockout-shortened season.
