We are a little over 24 hours away from NBA free agency officially begins but with teams being able to speak to players and agents, a few moves are already all but confirmed. Wednesday it was reported that Tracy McGrady would become a member of the Atlanta Hawks. Thursday, free agent forward Shane Battier announced via his Twitter account that he would be joining the Miami Heat for the 2011-2012 season:
Battier split the 2010-2011 season between Houston and Memphis, with combined averages on 7.6 ppg and 4.5 rpg while shooting .382 from three-point range. Adding Battier will give the Heat an excellent defender on the perimeter alongside LeBron James, while also adding the additional shooting threat that the Heat were lacking last season.
