Leading up to today’s game between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks current Seahawks personnel executive (and former Niners general manager) Scot McCloughan was pretty confident that his new team would come out on top when he spoke with Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports.
“They come to our place Christmas Eve,” McCloughan says laughing of the 11-3 Niners, “and we’re going to beat the hell out of ‘em.”
Unfortunately for McCloughan Seattle ended up on the losing end of a 19-17 score this afternoon. It appears his comment made its way to the 49ers locker room and was on the mind of atleast one player after the game who tweeted the following.
It’s understandable that while McCloughan was at one time employed by the Niners his allegiance would be with his current team. That being said he made a pretty bold statement, one the Seahawks didn’t back up. Eventhough Davis’ tweet has since been deleted it gives us an indication of how McCloughan’s comment (jokingly or not) was received by one member of his former team.
