On the move again?

After a failed career revival in Minnesota, veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb has been placed on waivers by the Vikings per ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

The Minnesota Vikings plan to release veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb later Thursday, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

McNabb was benched by Vikings coach Leslie Frazier in mid-October, and rookie Christian Ponder has been behind center ever since. McNabb has remained on the team as the backup.

Rumors have already begin to circulate that McNabb is interested in playing for his hometown Chicago Bears, who will be without Jay Cutler for the remainder of the season. McNabb appeared in only 6 games for the Vikings, passing for 1,026 yards with 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. McNabb struggled early in the season to put the Vikings into scoring position before the team decided to go with Ponder. Teams currently in need of a starting veteran quarterback include the Bears as well as the Texans, who lost starter Matt Schaub and back up Matt Leinart in consecutive games.

More information as it becomes available.
