J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!

Ed Anzalone, also known as Fireman Ed, is a retired New York City fireman and one of the most well known sports fans in our country. He even has his own app. Anzalone is a long time Jets fan who has been ever present at home games for over 20 years and is famous for leading the “J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!” cheer. The #42 jersey he wears belonged to former Jets running back and kick/punt returner Bruce Harper. Anzalone was even inducted into Pro Football’s Hall of Fame as part of its Hall of Fans exhibit. I’m not sure how it will rank compared to being part of a section in Canton, but Fireman Ed will be doing the intro for this week’s Monday Night Football game between the Dolphins and Jets.

The second “Monday Night Football” open of the post-Hank Williams Jr. era will feature Fireman Ed (Anzalone) as part of a theme highlighting the history of the Jets and the passion and loyalty of their fan base, and its relationship with coach Rex Ryan.

Here’s a video of Ed in action.

Detroit Lions great Barry Sanders did the opening for last week’s game. Here’s the video in case you missed it, or want to see it again.
