Wow.

Saying Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder has a lot of money would be a vast understatement, and he has been known to spend it frivolously. A couple years ago he ponied up $100 mil for the disappointment that has become known as Albert Haynesworth (Snyder actually only had to pay Haynesworth $40 mil for his 2 seasons). He also tossed $56 mil Deion Sanders way back in 2000 for what turned out to be just one season of service. Now Snyder is a proud owner of the 224-foot yacht “The Lady Anne”, with a price tag of a whopping aapprox. $70 mil. Here are some details via The Washington Post:

The sale is big news in the luxury yacht market: The Lady Anne is one of the 100 largest yachts in the world, according to Power & Motoryacht magazine, and one of the most beautiful. Big news for Washington, too: Despite all the multimillionaires in the nation’s capital, few have yachts — and none with the extravagant luxury of the Lady Anne.

The Lady Anne “epitomizes opulent modern living,” boasts Burgess Yachts, the London-based company that offers charters on the boat, on its Web site. “A magnificent spiralling five-storey staircase leads you to the spacious decks, be it the comfort of the main salon, the fabulously appointed theatre room or the light and airy upper salon for a pre-dinner cocktail.” The master suite has “rare, pure white triple A-grade Thassos marble.” The yacht features a library, gym and six staterooms that can accommodate 16 people (not counting the crew of 18).

The Lady Anne was custom-made for Jerome and Anne Fisher in 2006 and apparently named after her. They spared no expense on what is regarded as one of the best-designed mega-yachts in existence.

Must be nice to have tons of money to throw around. Good thing the ‘Skins have been marginally successful so far this season (3-1) to distract us from the many failed big money deals Snyder pulls off.
